Cloaked (Drama). 1.02 "The Mercenary and the Angel, pt. 2"
Opening scene: It's the morning after Skye & Fenris spending the night running from the bad guys and holing up in Fenris' rooms. They enter Skye's home to find Skye's aunt, the formidable Lady Margaret (Holland Taylor) waiting for them. She very emphatically expresses her concern about Skye's whereabouts the previous night. Skye is defensive, but holds her own. When she leaves the room, Margaret wastes no time telling Fenris what she thinks of him. Refering to Fenris is "Lord Lyall," we learn that Fenris has not only committed the sin of having no family money, but he has a disreputable past and present, in spite of his heroic accolades he received in the Napoleonic wars.Fenris informs Margaret that Skye has hired him to do a job and though he may be a mercenary, he's still a man of his word. Skye returns to stormy faces on both Margaret and Fenris. However, Skye & Fenris leave to look for the mysterious, "Wu."
Fade to introductory voice over and credits.Return to montage of Skye & Fenris visiting several weapons shops, showing the sword, and receiving negative replies. Finally, they enter a Chinese imports shop. They ask the Asian shopkeeper (Jet Li) if he knows Wu. The shopkeeper returns cryptic answers until Skye pulls out the sword and inquires if he knows anything about it. The shopkeep's interest skyrockets, which creates an equal, but aggressive reaction in Fenris. Finally, the shopkeep admits he is Wu. He explains the sword is an important Chinese artifact, priceless to the people of China. Skye lights up, sharing that China was her brother's destination and she's convinced the sword is a sign from him. Fenris wants to know why and who would kill for the sword. Wu says many would like to possess the sword, but the sword belongs to one person at a time. He hands the sword to Skye.
Cut to commercial.
On the ride back to Skye's home, Fenris & she discuss the questions surrounding the sword. Why was it sent to her? Who wants it so badly, they'd kill for it? Could it have a connection to her brother? We learn that Skye's brother went in search of his friend, Falco, who he believed to be in China. But no word has been heard of either of them in 3 months. Fenris wants to keep the sword with him, but Skye again refuses to let it go. They argue about the danger she may be in. Skye claims Fenris only thinks of her as his friends little sister, but she can take care of herself. Fenris looks at her like she's anything but a "little sister" to him. He deposits her safely at her door then broods all the way home.
When he opens his door, he finds an uninvited guest in his house - Volier (Julian Sands). Volier discusses Fenris' reputation as a man for sale - if the price is right. Volier wants that sword. He is willing to pay Fenris very highly to get it for him. If Fenris is not, Volier has other ways of obtaining the sword, but they might require painful measures for the young lady. Volier exits by naming a "shitload" figure for Fenris to get that sword for him.
Black screen to end credits.
